Curriculum Vitae
In short, I was born in Leipzig anno 1984 but spent the greatest part of the following 20 years in Berlin, Manchester, Aachen/Aix-la-Chapelle, Newport (Shropshire) and Mülheim an der Ruhr.
Having obtained a Vordiplom in Mathematics from the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, I went on to do Part III of the Mathematical Tripos in Cambridge. A series of fortunate circumstances allowed me to stay there as a PhD student of Burt Totaro. Throughout my time at Cambridge, I was affiliated with Trinity Hall.
In 2011, I joined the topology group at the University of Wuppertal in Germany, where I was working with Jens Hornbostel. After a short lecturing stint at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich during the winter semester 2014/15, I was appointed Junior Professor at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. In 2020, I became full professor.
