Research Interests:

  • Arithmetic groups and locally symmetric spaces, their cohomology and the relations to automorphic forms and number theory.
  • L2-Invariants and approximation properties.
  • Asymptotic group theory, in particular homological properties.
  • Representation zeta functions of compact p-adic analytic groups
  • Ordered, diffuse and unique product groups.

"Growth in Geometry and Topology" is the topic of the Borel Seminar 2017, which takes place 21-25 August 2017 in Les Diablerets. I am really looking forward to this seminar, where I will contribute a minicourse (in collaboration with Holger Kammeyer) on L2-Invariants and the growth of Betti numbers.

For the summer term 2017 I prepared the programme for a seminar on dessins d'enfants in the AG Düsseldorf-Wuppertal. The programme can be found here.
Moreover, I will give an exercise class on profinite groups.

From September to December 2016 I am working at the Hausdorff Research Institute for Mathematics in Bonn.

I'm organizing two workshops in 2016:

Zeta functions and motivic integration , 20 - 22 July, Düsseldorf (jointly organized with Benjamin Klopsch).

New directions in L2-invariants, 3 - 7 October, HIM Bonn, (jointly organized with Gerrit Herrmann, Holger Kammeyer, Aditi Kar and Jean Raimbault)

I am involved in several seminars in Düsseldorf during the winter term 15/16:

Seminar on Group Theory (Buildings!)
Oberseminar Algebra & Geometrie (Milnor conjectures)
AG Düsseldorf-Wuppertal: Algebra & Geometrie
Moreover, I am organizing the Mathematical colloquium this semester.

Jean Raimbault and I organised the Seminar on Homology Growth in Geometry and Arithmetic at the MPIM in Bonn.
A program can be found on the HoGiGA page.
